May 1: Verse of the day

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5

So in this verse it is kind of like an analogy. The light is God or Jesus or even just good works and deeds. Whereas darkness is the absence of those things. It could also be the devil or sin. It shows that the darkness has not overcome the light, so sin has not overcome Jesus. Just think, you can't have darkness without light. Darkness isn't a thing, it is the absence of light.
