Every new year gives us a fresh and new beginning! We have the privilege of starting our New Year with Jesus and amazing habits! The New Year isn't just about a year change form 2025 to 2026 it is about starting new!

The New Year shows us a parallel to God's forgiveness. When we sin and we ask for forgiveness God will always forgive. So he gives us grace and we become wiped clean. We get to start fresh, forgetting our past and moving forward so we can start doing the right thing.

01: Spend time with God Daily

Life gets busy, trust me I get it, but that doesn't mean we get to take out God to make more time. I find myself scrolling reels and then claiming I didn't have time to read my Bible or journal or worship God in general. When i think about it, it doesn't make any sense. We want a relationship with God, but then we continue to push Him away unknowingly. We just think that one morning we will wake up and be an amazing Christian who doesn't make mistakes. I have wished it for a while, but it won't happen, no matter how much we wish. We HAVE to put in the work, so that is why my first resolution is to spend time with God daily!

02: Truly Forgive

Forgiveness is one of the hardest challenges I have faced in my walk with Christ. I used to just let it go, but not actually forgive people. I would hold grudges and whenever the topic got brought up I would get angry again.

One person hurt me so many times in small ways that it just built up and I started to resent them. That is not a place you want to be, trust me. One day I was so fed up with them I just started to crash out. I cried out to God and begged Him to change me, because I couldn't take it anymore. I hated being angry at anything they said even if it was nice. I saw how much I was hurting them and it cut deep in my heart. I felt so bad.

So I begged God to let me forgive them truly and I have to do every once in a while so I don't go back to resentment, but it is so freeing. I have built back my relationship to that person and it is amazing. it will never be perfect, but it is so nice to not be angry all the time. I never realized how draining it is to be resentful. I never want to go back to that, so I am going to try to truly forgive everyone and anyone!

03: Act with Gratitude Every Day

Being grateful is harder than you think! I always thought that it wasn't tricky to say what you were thankful for, but trying to be grateful in real time is extremely difficult. Being in school is one of my biggest downfalls for gratefulness. I just want to be home and in my bed, but I know that I am so blessed to be able to get an education and have the right to learn and to get a degree and work. I know that I am blessed but it is hard to not fall into the temptation to be hateful and to be apathetic about things and other people. I am going to try to be grateful in everything I do even in bad situations!

04: Share the Gospel

I don't know about you, but sharing the Gospel is scary. I want to bring people to Jesus, but I don't want people to get mad at me or to attack me verbally or physically. I know that God is with me and that the devil is putting this fear upon me, but it is so hard to overcome. I want to get over the awkwardness of talking to strangers and I want to get over the awkwardness of sharing the Gospel. So I am going to try to spread the Gospel to one person this year!

05: Stop Scrolling Constantly

I feel like scrolling is culturally accepted now and nobody questions it. It is so addictive and is so bad for us. It ruins our attention span and pulls us away from God. It pulls me away from God and I hate it. But I continue to go back to it and sit for hours on end just watching video after video after video. I am going to try to replace my scrolling time by spending more time with Jesus!!!!!
