“Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you in prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Revelation 2:10

I often find myself having fear about the future and not showing true faith towards God. It is much easier to succumb to your flesh and fear the unknown, but in this verse it shows that you will get a great reward if you trust in God. We will get eternal life which is something that never dies or loses the excitement and glow like earthly pleasures do. Even though the devil is currently trying to trick us, we will not bow down to his ways and his lies.

This verse is showing that the devil will be throwing some curve balls that we probably won’t see coming, but if we stay strong in the Lord we will not die, but have eternal life. It also says that we will suffer, but we aren’t supposed to fear. We have to stand firm in the Lord’s truth and defend His words and His people.

In Psalm 46:1-2 it says, “ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains may be moved into the heart of the sea,” This verse helps us to know that even though we will receive much suffering, God will be with us always. It helps me when I am afraid to think that God is standing next to me cheering me on.

He believes in you, and he will never give you something you can’t handle. If you are struggling with fear, call out to the Lord and ask Him to release your burden and to help you get through it. He loves you and wants to help you, but you have to let him. In what areas of your life do you need to work on building your faith with God?
